What NFPs and Masjid Leaders Need to Know
Global Accessibility Awareness Day is May 16, 2024. Sound Vision Canada is pleased to collaborate with DEEN Support Services to mark this day with a FREE training workshop on the topic of digital accessibility.
The online training will cover basic concepts and principles of digital accessibility. You will learn why digital accessibility is important and how digital content can be made accessible for everyone including people with all kinds of disabilities. We will explore the web accessibility guidelines, best practices for developing accessible digital content and how to test accessibility. If you are an organizational leader, policy maker, web developer or just interested in making digital content more inclusive, this training will provide you with valuable knowledge and tips to design more accessible content for everyone.

About Azhar Karim
Azhar Karim identifies as legally blind and partially sighted, having lived with his disability for almost 60 years. After working for more than three decades in education, training and the airline industry, he now works in the non-profit sector serving people with disabilities as Director of Finance and Shared Services at DEEN Support Services. His passion is to advocate for the rights of people with disabilities and ensure that they are provided with a barrier free, inclusive and accessible Canada where they can live an independent life with dignity and prosperity. He participates in several activities that promote the cause of accessibility and inclusivity. As a member of Region of Peel and Transhelp Accessibility Advisory Committees, Azhar supports the Region’s initiatives to successfully achieve the AODA compliance goals. He is a pro user of adaptive technology for the blind and low vision community and provides training in the use of such technologies. Azhar holds an MBA degree in marketing. He has attended several international conferences, seminars and online courses in the fields of training & development, aviation management, and accessible technology for blind and low vision users.
